FINDING SOCIAL MEDIA UNICORNS AND KEEPING THEM ALIVE

In today's changing digital media environment dominated by fast-changing headlines and growing privacy concerns, universities often struggle to find content that resonates with their audiences. Even worst, by the time your creative team finishes editing the perfect video or producing the ideal graphic, your audience might have moved to something else. The key to keeping your online engagement going strong is to find and grow your social media unicorns. Your unicorns are unique pieces of content that have been hugely successful in helping you meet institutional goals; however, they are often short-lived. In this presentation, we will discuss different strategies to help you identify those unicorns early on. We will also learn how to use a blended organic and paid approach to get the most out of these unicorns. Using this strategy, we were able to help increase the number of overall graduate applications by close to 20% for the Fall 2018 semester.
